The Grammy winner recently took to Instagram Stories to share her deepest concern for her three kids with ex-husband Offset: six-year-old Kulture Kiari Cephus, three-year-old Wave Set Cephus, and their youngest, a four-month-old baby girl whose name remains a mystery.

“My biggest fear is my kids not having that DRIVE,” Cardi confessed on August 24. “IDGAF what you wanna do!! MAKE A BILLION DOLLARS OUT OF IT!”

It’s a sentiment rooted in Cardi’s own journey. Before she became a household name, Cardi—real name Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar—worked as a stripper for four years, hustling hard to survive. Her big break came in 2015 on Love & Hip Hop: New York, and by 2017, she had taken the music world by storm with her smash hit “Bodak Yellow.”

Cardi has always preached the gospel of hard work, both in her music and at home. Last year, she celebrated Kulture’s graduation from pre-kindergarten with a heartfelt Instagram post: “My baby moving on up. I’m an emotional proud mommy. Give me good grades and I’ll give you the world, baby.”

She also shared a sweet video of Kulture announcing her future ambitions to her classmates. “When I grow up,” Kulture declared into the microphone, “I want to be a doctor.”

While Cardi is proud of her children’s big dreams, she’s keenly aware that her success and wealth give them a leg up. In a 2022 interview with Vogue Singapore, she explained, “They need to know to never feel comfortable. Don’t ever feel like, ‘I’m going to get it because I’m Cardi and Offset’s kid.’ They are never going to know what struggle feels like, so they might not have that hunger I had to leave the streets.”

She added, “Even though my kids are well-off, I want them to know that when you work for things and achieve it, it’s more respected—especially when people see that you bust your a– for it.”
