Cardi B’s Wig Swaps Leave Attorney Baffled During Beverly Hills Assault Trial

Cardi B knows how to make headlines—and not just with her music. The Grammy-winning rapper found herself at the center of a viral courtroom moment this week, as her ever-changing wigs left an attorney completely stumped during her ongoing civil assault trial.

On August 26, Cardi B (born Belcalis Almánzar) took the stand to answer allegations from a 2020 lawsuit filed by security guard Emani Ellis. Ellis claims that Cardi physically attacked her outside a Beverly Hills medical office back in 2018, allegedly cutting her face with her nails and spitting on her. Cardi, who was secretly pregnant with her first child at the time, has vehemently denied any physical altercation, insisting that the incident was strictly verbal.

The courtroom drama took an unexpected turn when the attorney cross-examining Cardi became fixated on her hair. Footage shared by Access Hollywood shows the lawyer growing increasingly confused as Cardi swapped a sleek black pixie wig for a long, platinum blonde one between court appearances.

“Yesterday you had black hair, short hair. Today it’s blonde and long. Which one is your real hair? Or are they both real?” the attorney pressed.

Cardi couldn’t help but laugh, replying, “They’re wigs.”

The attorney, clearly caught off guard, admitted, “Okay. Sorry, I didn’t know that. It’s a good wig today, then.”

Beyond the hair debate, Cardi remained firm in her testimony. She recounted feeling cornered by Ellis, who she says was “wilding out,” following and recording her at the medical office. “I didn’t touch her,” Cardi repeated, according to Rolling Stone. “It was like a verbal fight, but it didn’t get physical at all.” She did admit to telling Ellis, “Bitch, get the f— out of my face,” as tempers flared.

The trial has drawn attention not only for its celebrity drama but also for Cardi’s unapologetic courtroom style—proving once again that she’s never afraid to speak her mind or switch up her look.
