**Trump Hints at Possible Deportation of Elon Musk Amid Escalating Feud Over GOP Spending Bill**

In a dramatic escalation of their ongoing feud, former President Donald Trump suggested on Tuesday that his administration might consider deporting billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, following Musk’s blistering criticism of the latest Republican spending bill.

Musk, a South African-born naturalized U.S. citizen, took to his platform X (formerly Twitter) over the weekend to lambaste the GOP’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” accusing Republicans of reckless spending and ballooning the national debt.

“It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS, that we live in a one-party country—the PORKY PIG PARTY!!” Musk declared in a fiery Monday post, referencing “pork,” a term for government spending directed to lawmakers’ home districts.

Trump fired back early Tuesday on Truth Social, claiming Musk’s outrage was rooted in the bill’s elimination of the electric vehicle (EV) mandate—a move that could threaten Musk’s business empire. “Elon would have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa,” Trump wrote.

Pressed by reporters later that morning about whether he would actually deport Musk, Trump replied, “We’ll have to take a look.” He added with a grin, “We might have to put DOGE on Elon,” referencing the Department of Government Efficiency, which Musk had previously led as a special government employee.

Musk responded on X with characteristic bravado: “So tempting to escalate this. So, so tempting. But I will refrain for now.”

Trump didn’t let up, telling reporters in Florida later that day, “If DOGE looks at Musk, we’re going to save a fortune.”

The war of words comes after Musk threatened to fund primary challengers against any Republican who supported the bill. “If it is the last thing I do on this Earth,” Musk vowed on X, “I will see to it.”

When asked by ABC News about Musk’s fierce criticism, Trump doubled down, insisting the dispute was over the EV mandate. “He should’ve known I wouldn’t do that, I couldn’t do that. I campaigned on those things for two years. I never understand why he did what he did, but he’s not going to get his mandate, and he better be careful, because he might not get anything else. You know what that means, right?”

Musk continued to rally opposition to the bill on X, reposting memes and commentary slamming the legislation as wasteful and debt-inducing.

This latest spat ends a brief two-and-a-half-week détente between Trump and Musk. Just last month, after stepping down from a White House advisory role, Musk began openly criticizing the spending bill and the Republicans who backed it.

“This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,” Musk wrote on June 3. “Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.”

Musk didn’t stop there, later claiming, “Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate. Such ingratitude.” Notably, Musk contributed over $270 million to support Trump and other Republican candidates in the 2024 election cycle.

Trump, meanwhile, accused Musk of being upset over the EV mandate’s removal and even threatened to pull the billionaire’s government contracts.

Speaking to NBC News on June 7, Trump ominously warned that Musk would “have to pay the consequences” if he decided to back Democratic candidates.

On June 11, Musk appeared to extend an olive branch, posting, “I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” after reportedly speaking with Trump by phone.

Whether the two have spoken since remains unclear—but the gloves are clearly off as their political rivalry intensifies.
