The NBA’s Next Big Stars The 2025 NBA Summer League is just around the corner! Don’t miss the thrilling matchup between Cooper Flagg (Dallas Mavericks) and Bronny James (Los Angeles Lakers) on July 10.

Cooper Flagg vs. Bronny James: Summer League Showdown Set After Blockbuster NBA Draft
The 2025 NBA Draft was filled with jaw-dropping moments, but one pick was a foregone conclusion: the Dallas Mavericks selecting Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 overall pick. The former Duke phenom, often compared to NBA superstar Kawhi Leonard, took the college basketball world by storm. Remarkably, Flagg dominated the NCAA as a freshman — a year he could have still been playing high school basketball at Montverde Academy.
Flagg’s numbers speak for themselves: he led Duke in all five major categories, averaging an impressive 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game. His all-around brilliance made him the consensus top prospect, and millions tuned in to see his name called on draft night.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there. As announced by ESPN on Thursday, Flagg will make his highly anticipated Mavericks debut in the NBA Summer League — and the spotlight just got brighter. His first opponent? None other than Bronny James and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Bronny James, the eldest son of NBA legend LeBron James, was selected 55th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft. Despite being one of the most polarizing prospects in recent memory, Bronny silenced critics with standout performances for both the Lakers and their G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, where he averaged 21.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game.
The clash between Flagg and James is set for July 10 at 8:00 p.m. ET, airing live on ESPN. With two of basketball’s brightest young stars sharing the court, fans can expect fireworks.

LeBron James himself weighed in on Flagg’s arrival in Dallas, predicting big things for the rookie thanks to the Mavericks’ championship-caliber roster. “These guys can give him the whole blueprint while he continues to learn what his own blueprint will be,” LeBron said. “Having that kind of presence, leadership, and basketball IQ around him every day is going to be incredible. I think he’s going to be amazing.”
With the basketball world watching, the Summer League showdown between Cooper Flagg and Bronny James promises to be must-see TV — and perhaps a preview of the NBA’s next great rivalry.
