Jim Jones might have hoped for a high note to cap his week at Hot 97’s Summer Jam 2025, but the Harlem rapper’s set took a sharp left turn when his microphone was abruptly cut mid-performance.

The moment — captured in viral footage — saw Jones confronting legendary DJ Funk Flex backstage in a scene described by insiders as “tense,” though thankfully, it stopped short of turning physical.

Determined not to let the disruption derail his night, Jones made a bold move by stepping directly into Funkmaster Flex’s DJ booth. In a surprising turn, he managed to talk his way into getting a sliver of extra time — just enough to perform a quick 30-second burst of his 2006 anthem, “We Fly High.” But by then, the damage was done. The image of Jones confronting Flex added yet another viral wrinkle to what was already a turbulent week for the Diplomats co-founder.

Jones didn’t stop there. He also had smoke for Pusha T and Malice, collectively known as the Clipse, who recently released their long-awaited single, Ace Trumpets. While fans celebrated the reunion track, Jones took a different stance, dismissing the hype in a sharp critique:

“What’s so great about it? It’s good in what? The nostalgic value of it? I don’t believe it. I don’t believe it, I don’t believe them,” he said.

While careful to say he wasn’t trying to downplay anyone’s artistry, Jones made it clear he never really connected with their catalog: “I don’t listen to their music and never have. I don’t recall too many records that I can remember.”
